How It All Started
Computer Assets started in 1993 with a simple idea and a lot of determination. Founded by local entrepreneur Abe Salazar, the company has grown from a home office setup into one of New Mexico’s leading telecommunications and surveillance providers.
Abe’s path wasn’t exactly traditional. After earning a degree in Chemistry from New Mexico Highlands University, he began consulting for the State, focusing on software programming. It didn’t take long for him to see the bigger picture—the potential to build smarter systems and better infrastructure for the communities around him. So he took a chance.
With a 386 processor (bought with help from his parents) and a workspace in his own home, Abe launched Computer Assets as a one-man operation. In the early days, that meant figuring things out as he went—even if it looked like taking apart a computer in the middle of the living room. What started as curiosity quickly turned into something much bigger.
Today, Computer Assets is still family-owned and operated, and that foundation is a big part of who we are. We’ve grown a lot over the years, but we’ve stayed grounded in the same values: doing great work, taking care of our clients, and building solutions that actually make a difference.
Our team combines technical expertise with a practical, problem-solving mindset to deliver reliable telecommunications and surveillance systems. We’re always evolving with the industry, but our focus stays the same—providing solutions that work, and relationships that last.
